BP5_2010062_Web 2.0_tool

The Web 2.0 Tool that I am reviewing is Ediscio. Ediscio is a tool that connects modern and cutting edge strategies in eLearning with ease of use. The program is in a constant development process, in which the feedback of the users is seriously taken into account. The integrated board of Ediscio makes it easy to get in contact with the author and to discuss extensions or changes of Ediscio's functionality. Feedback of educators gets special attention to make the use of Ediscio in classrooms as easy as possible and to maximize successful learning of students. Another aim of Ediscio is to keep in touch with newest developments in information technology. Thus, functionality of the Web 2.0 area is integrated and used in learning processes to enhance intuitive gathering of knowledge, and interaction of users.

Learning statistics, such as tag-cloud is based on keywords that are assigned to flashcards. In some instances visualization of learning progress may be presented as a diagram. Long-term statistics are gathered after each learning session while Rights management for each card box and cataloging of all card boxes are configured for public access by using : import, export, (XLS, CSV, Html) and print flashcards. There is also News system that informs about events like creating and editing flashcards in all currently used card boxes, and (as RSS feed) reminds on learning schedule. The Social network features include: making friends, mail; and automatically finding experts for specifics. Classroom features help a teacher to assign card boxes to a whole class. Newsfeed incorporates activities in card boxes of class. Learning statistics relate to a whole class, to make it easy to find out how pupils perform with specific flashcards, card boxes, and keywords.

I wanted to find a Web 2.0 tool that would help me with my master’s program and I think I have found it. Wepapers claims to be the largest study group. WePapers is a place where students and everybody can expand their knowledge and share their wisdom, for free. It’s good to know that you are not alone in the struggle. This tool is going to make my educational experience a whole lot easier. With this tool you are able to find, read, print and download tons of quality documents, exam and textbook solutions and cheat-sheets for anything you study in college or university. You can store all your papers; exams, lecture notes and research work in one place, and get organized. You have use of all your information 24 hours a day 7 days a week from all over the world. This tool is amazing. It covers over 30 subjects and other subcategories. Language is not a barrier for this tool. It includes over 13 languages. Whatever your research and writing needs are, this tool has it. Writing is a real challenge for me because the ideas are there but I cannot seem to get them on paper. This tool can give you tips and you can view documents similar to your work and get help. The best part is this is a community of learners helping one another. You share ideas, work, and suggestion. Building friendship and bond that will last a lifetime. “Whether to help you graduate with honors or just win an argument, WePapers to help make you smarter, much smarter.”(wePapers 2010)

Education Technology

The RSS feed is keeps up with the changing technologies, issues and related developments in education, distance education, and online learning. This is necessary to maintain up-to-date resources for students. As an educator I feel that it’s my responsibility to be on the cutting edge of Educational Technology. Especially since my degree it centered on it.

Federal Resources for Educational Excellence

The best thing I like about this RSS feed is that the resources are free. Some time teachers don’t have the budget to get everything they desire. They include resources for Math, Science, Art, World History, and Language Art. This feed has you cover and has more than 1,500 federally supported teaching and learning resources are included from dozens of federal agencies. This fee would benefit any educational professional looking for free resources.

Improving Public School and Public Education

I selected this feed because it centers on my action research. I hope to get plenty ideas on how to accurately get collect all the facts to get the true picture of my project. This RSS feed is place where kids and parents, teachers and administrators, policy makers and the people they serve, all are empowered to change education for the better.

Primary Games

This is a very colorful and interesting feed. It includes two pages of educational game. I believe my student will really enjoy. What really caught my attention is that author designed the games and others would designers can submit their games. This is another venture I am interested in. I also want to design education games.

US Department of Education

Everything you want to know about education is right here. I believe this feed is the best of because it has the most effective tools and resources. It a spring board to all of the educator’s needs. It has information about education grants and professional development just to name a few. This feed will play a major role in my profession.

BP2_2010061_Educational_Uses_for_Blogs

During my research, I have found several educational uses for blogs. I personally have not used blogs but I am looking forward to incorporating them as an educational professional and possibly for a business enterprise.

Blogs are a way that educators can collaborate outside of the school. Educators will have duel access whether it is at their place of abode or professional environment to read, discuss and learn more about current events in education. Information could be shared, articles discussed, questions asked and suggestions made all on the web.

Blogs are also being used to connect classrooms and schools all over world. Students can connect with other students in and out of the classroom. Classrooms can connect with other classrooms. A class can communicate with a scientist. There are endless possibilities of communication. The beauty of this is that all can take place within a school, within a grade level or across grade levels. Weblogs are also being used as portfolios to collect students’ work such as writing samples, works of art, and other school based work.

Weblogs can also be an instructor or a professor’s tool. They are able to post their course content such as a syllabi, assignments and their due dates, links to articles for reference, research and study. Elementary school teachers can use them for lesson plans. Their students and parents would be informed of upcoming quizzes or test, parent-teacher conferences, homework, field trips, and other reminders. This will better facilitate communication between home and school. Blogs also enable teachers to post and update materials with more ease, effectiveness, flexibility and freedom.

"Through the use of blogs, it is suggested that teachers and learners are becoming empowered, motivated, reflective and connected practitioners in new knowledge environments. The balance between individualized and centralized technologies is restored."(Farmer 2005)
